Among Chinese poets, none loved the moon more than Li Bai.
据说他的一生写了上千首诗,其中提到月亮的有三百多处。
He is said to have written a thousand poems, of which more than three hundred mention the moon.
月亮是他的酒伴,也是他的镜子。
The moon was his drinking companion, and also his mirror.
最有名的那首只有二十个字,几乎每个中国孩子都会背。
His most famous poem is only twenty characters long, and nearly every Chinese child can recite it.

In one poem he drinks alone among the flowers and invites the moon to keep him company.
"举杯邀明月,对影成三人。"
"I raise my cup to invite the bright moon; facing my shadow, we become three."
孤独到极点的时候,他把孤独写成了热闹。
At the very extreme of loneliness, he wrote loneliness into company.
传说他最后是在水中捞月时淹死的。
Legend says he finally drowned while reaching into the water for the moon.
这个故事多半不是真的,但人们愿意相信。
This story is most likely untrue, but people are willing to believe it.
因为对李白来说,为了月亮而死,似乎是最合适的结局。
Because for Li Bai, to die for the moon seems the most fitting ending of all.
