The 把 construction in Chinese, explained

S + 把 + object + verb + result

subject does V to this object

把 pulls the object in front of the verb to say what was done to it. The verb cannot stand bare — it needs 了, 好, 完, a direction, or some other result attached.

我把门关了。

Wǒ bǎ mén guān le.

I shut the door.
